Dr. Cox holds a Ph.D. degree in Marriage and Family therapy from The Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL., and a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nursing from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Dr. Cox has a post-graduate certificate from the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham. AL., and a Psychiatric Mental/Health Nurse Practitioner post-graduate certificate from the University of Virginia, at Charlottesville, Va. Dr. Cox is a Clinical Fellow and an Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Dr. Cox has been an Associate Professor of Nursing in several Universities. She has published in therapy, nursing research, and clinical journals. She has made regional, national, and international presentations regarding her research and family issues. Dr. Cox has been on local, regional, national, and international committees. She has published a book entitled, Health Counseling with Families from Diverse Cultures. Dr. Cox was been honored by being elected as a Distinguished Practitioner into the National Academies of Practice- The Nursing Academy. The National Academies of Practice is an organization dedicated to serving as the nation’s distinguished, interdisciplinary forum that addresses public policy, education, research and inquiry.
